Yes Mike, good times. You were very patient!!!!  Almost everyone, giving millions of well meaning thoughts and comments. More courage and patience than I have im afraid!        adviceoverload.co.uk ?
Gavin- good news as turbos can be a bit "pricey"! I once fitted a replacement and was advised to change engine oil as a blown turbo dumps swarf into the oil system :o

A lovely week. Thanks to everyone for their advice, especially John and and Ian. Susurrus is going back into the shed for a few (cost free) modifications. Porthmadoc is a lovely area and we especially enjoyed days out on the Ffestiniog steam railway and the Portmadog steam railway with its stunning scenery on a beautiful day through the mountains to Caernarfon.

I also had a drama driving home. Not from where I had a trailer puncture over the mountains, this time there was a bang, a cloud of smoke and a loss of power.
The assumption was that the turbo had blown but I managed to drive home albeit with no pulling power and an average speed of 50mph.

Today I got the good news that all it was was a hoseclip had popped on the intercooler. It would appear that the loss in pressure had caused the engine management to go into "safe mode".
It will all be fixed tomorrow with the minimum of cost.
Those Welsh mountains are cursed!

The scowl in the pic was for all of those who did not turn up.
Many thanks to all of those that did and made it a very enjoyable break.
Great to see new and very welcome faces and catch up with the familiar ones.
Weather could have been kinder but we had a few very good days.
Hard boiled eggs, chips and salad on the beach. Magic!!

The club craft despite being 9 years old was still capable of taking a smiling Captain Flint to Porthmerion.
It is now in the hands of Ian B who will no doubt lavish loads of TLC by way of a wire brush and Hammerite.

Interesting trip home heading a convoy of several cars at around 45mph when a strange banging noise came from underneath the front. A clue as to what was wrong was my clutch pedal sitting on the floor.
The clutch operating lever had fallen off the spline, so no clutch.
Fortunately a handy run off appeared and with much juddering all was well.
The circlip that holds it in place was no where to be seen  and NO, I did not forget to put it on as I never touched it.
Suprising what you can fix with cable ties.
200 miles on and it is still there.

Loads of Washing, emails, BBQ cleaning , etc then it will be all another batch of great memories.

Regards to all My Fellow Campers.

Just back home safe n sound from a superb week in Portmadog. 8)      SWELTER CITY     8)
VERY lucky weather and the marquee was successfully taken down Sat lunchtime in a warm sapphire breeze and packed away into Kips Manly Trailer ready to be towed 250 miles back down to deep cockneyland. THANKS to Kip and  for patience, hard work,  and a tough stomach swallowing the BBQ food. No upset stomachs (to our knowledge) and a good time had by all I hope and think. Some great photos already,,, and more will be posted soon (5 hrs sleep for me last night!) :-[

Well - what a great couple of days we had at Porthmadog! As newbies, we were made very welcome so thanks to all there for that. From the stand up comedy routines from Gazza at the Sunday evening BBQ through to the advice, guidance and assistance from all we really had a blast. The camp site was excellent, the weather superb and the scenery fantastic.
Nick was very brave and rode shotgun with me for my first go at hovering on water - I really am grateful for his good company and wise words. I had a little go on my own then but in sight of the "grown-ups" - great fun. Gazza and John were then good enough to let me tag along on a longer trip where I realised I had much to learn. It's all very different to flying on grass isn't it?!!
Later still, John (obviously a glutton for punishment) lead us (Val and I on our first trip on water together) down to Portmerion where we landed on a small beach and went for afternoon tea at the famous hotel - outstanding. On our way back, we met up with Steve coming the other way so stopped on a sand bank opposite the hotel for a chat - as you do  8)  For the final leg, the tide was (very much) out which is where I discovered that there is much to learn about negotiating the sand banks too. A truly excellent day out.
Having put the world to rights in the evening we, very reluctantly, had to head home the next day - we would love to have stayed and done more. Lara is a terrific craft and we realise we have been lucky to have her as a start to our hovercrafting life.
So it's Berkeley next for me then (Val is on a course in London that weekend) for some training which I both need and look forward to. Thanks again to all at Porthmadog for making us feel so welcome and of course, to Kip for his organisation of the event - a pleasure to meet you all.
