If you remain with your craft, even fully swamped or capsized, your chances of rescue rise dramatically.
Its a lonely place out there - fortunately for me this was only half mile offshore and rescue came quickly. Had the craft sunk, however, it might have been a different story - its much harder to find a person in the water.
