That maybe a possibility that Ill have to have a look at.  They are marine grade fuel lines, but modern fuels seem very harsh on pretty much everything they come into contact with.

Hi Al, going by the appearance of that fuel lines exterior I'm wondering if that black gunk might be it's innards breaking down.  :( .

I started the Marlin up to let it run for 10 mins or so, which is something I do every few weeks when it's not being used.  This time it started making a nasty noise, which initially sounded like the fan blades where hitting something, so I switch it off and checked the fan.  Everything was OK there, so I started it again & the noise was still there.  I noticed every time the the noise was there the exhaust tail pipe would twitch.  So it had to be a misfire.  Out with the spark plugs and sure enough one of the plugs was well black with soot.   A new pair of plugs fitted and engine running sweet again.

I also noticed that the inline fuel filter has some discolouring on the inside, so I have ordered two new fuel filters as well as 4 new spark plugs to keep as spares.  Once the new filter arrives I'll replace the current filter
