OK. Thank you.
I vaguely recall Supercar but I don't think I ever watched it. The Thunder Birds were certainly a favourite after school entertainment. Captain Scarlett was on but never as big as T/birds.

That's Nick speak for when the wire comes into the drum at too steep an angle- it cuts off. Stops the winch winding over the drum and getting tangled. My workshop one doesnt have such a safety device- using me to decide to STOP.
I didn't!
Crossed fingers are a poor safety device. ::)
discuss.
Ians does have this safety feature as HIS is a proper professional winch BUT is very sensitive to the slightest incoming wire misplacement. Historically, although it's good to stop entanglements, its contacts tend to attract salty water being outside 24/7.
Sorry for my gobbledegook. It's an old man thing.

"INTERLOCK _ ON" is a check callout from  Supercar. A 1960s puppet supermarionation offering with a mad professor who invented and built the car (that flew) I especially loved the fire up sequences where the jets were fired up on test. I think there was a sexy lady with big eyes also -or was that lady Penelope who drove a pink Rolls?
Ah its all coming back mumble mumble,,,,
The Professor is indicated by my strange looking FINGER and bears a striking resemblance to - me!
The chimp seemed to be ever present on Gerry Andersons programs - it featured on Fireball XL5 another gem to watch instead of studying for exams! On THAT they gave the chimp pennies on the ends of its fingers (for no apparent reason) but is was "from space"
At last- ive found the "sexy lady" she was on XL5. See last photo with all american voiced hunk.

Simpler days (gone by)  :'(

Dead dolphin long gone. There have been porpoises spotted at Newnham so likely there will be other dead things to avoid soon enough! Sadly they do come up and seem to get too confused to find their way back

How does it know its 6 ft dangling? That over travel interlock is indeed a pain, having suffered under its well meaning out clicks often whilst suspended half way in and consequently - "Half way out"!
MY winch woes are because mine doesnt HAVE the anti sideways lock out that your does.
Dammed if, dammed if NOT.  ::)

There was a certain amount of winch activity here! It’s a long story but the salt got to a connector resulting in some unseen damage to the over travel interlock … which worked just fine until the craft was dangling 6ft above the river  :o still with a little bodgery it was recovered and the crane will be fixed tomorrow.

Lurking good Ian.
Better than being up ladders untangling my winch with bolt cutters, and a harness!  ;)
