Spectacular day yesterday! Weather was supposed to be full sun by 10:30 with no wind (it was wrong, pretty dreary until early afternoon - only good thing was the wind was almost zero due to the lack of sun). Early start (launched at 9:30 from Taynuilt) then off out of Loch Etive under the Connell bridge and down the coast to Oban. After a stop there, it was onward down the Sound of Kerrera past Loch Feochan (bit of Atlantic swell in this exposed section) and then down the inlet and under the "Bridge over the Atlantic" that connects Seil to the mainland. Then a stop on a small island in the Sound of Seil before popping round past the Cuan ferry (Seil to Luing) before turring back and passing the (very) narrows between Luing and Torsa. Back up the east of Torsa and under the bridge again before a stop at the entrance to Feochan. A straight run backup the east of Kerrera to a beach on Etive for afternoon tea!
After that a run up to the head f Loch Etive and the river. Spectacular scenery up at the top and very isolated. After more tea and lounging around it was back to the launch site and heading home about 8:30pm.
Very varied scenery on this route - everything from 1000m mountains to green fields and huge cliffs. open sea and narrow channels.
Long day in almost perfect conditions and perfect scenery!
