Is there any value in trying to keep the vehicle original or authentic ??
Or do you just go with what's best.

Its hard to beat a Geo metro 3 cylinder for these 2 cylinder 2 strokes. They fit in the same floor space. Burn half the fuel and use the same drive ratios as the 2 strokes fro the most part. with a decent head two barrel Webber they get a solid 60 hp up in the 5k rpm range. Plus you get a charging system instead of that 120 watt lighting coil. The motor mount build on the geo block couldn't be easier as all the ultralights in the USA just use a couple short sticks of aluminum angle which finding a picture of is not hard. Ive done more 503 and 447 conversions than i can count. The weight is only about 30 lbs heavier. My favorite part is it makes the fuel tank twice as big. You can sure feel the difference when you floor board tat 4 stroke over the 2stroke. I have a neoteric with that ec 44 engine that is brand new with 29 hours on it. I added a alternator to it so I could run some electrics. i like night flying/camping. I'll post up some picts if you want to add a alternator its not very hard if you have room for it. But soon it will be powered with a Geo engine. Another bonus over the years I have found with this conversion is that if you need more power its a easy inexpensive turbo or the bigger 4 cylinder engines bolt in the same whole just a little longer if you have the room.  So much quieter its almost worth it right there. all you need to go with out a ecm is a early dist. and aMSD style ignition box like the 6al. the early distributior was vacuum advance and didn't use the ecm to operate the advance timing.

David, I am assuming you mean a Sunrider.
If so it must be nearly 40 years old.
Good luck with the refurb.

I have an ec44.....its brand new. Bought it for a project but never used it. Got 2 exhausts for it. Has carbs and the cdi unit. I have never run it. It was supposed to go in a microlight. Only problem its got no cooling fan or tins as the prop air was to cool it.
