I might have a run from Gloucester next weekend, but I won't make a decision until Thursday. If anyone fancies coming along let me know. Needs to be suitable for craning in (<400kg, lifting points, excellent over hump) . Do bear in mind it is not possible to recover a broken down craft from many parts of the Severn 8) !!!

The wind didn't seem as bad as was forecast but it has been a wet miserable day here

All in all I am not unhappy and am sure that I made the right call. If I put any faith (and I don't) in the long range forecast then next Saturday looks like it will be perfect.
I would like to say anyone wana come play on the river but we are going to a wedding...
Do you think Mrs Gaz will mind going to it on her own

With average wind speeds of around 15 mph and gusts of 30 mph forecast I don't see any alternative than to postpone this cruise. The revised date is Saturday 6th August.

The Summer Cruise on the Tamar is this weekend, as usual the weather looks a little 'iffy'  :-X Fingers crossed the forecast windy wet weekend wont spoil things. Should the weather throw the proverbial spanner in the works I will call it on Friday morning.

Weather permitting this years launch site is the Jubilee Green Slipway, Saltash. 10.30 meet, launch as weather/manliness permits

Directions;
Jubilee Green Slipway is only a few meters north of the Tamar Bridge and is on the Cornish side of the river.

For SAT Nav’s use,
55 Old Ferry Road SALTASH PL12 6BJ

Wet finger navigators use;
From Exeter stay on the M5 and stay with it when it becomes the A38, signposted for Plymouth and Saltash (do not use the A30). In about 40 miles Cross the Tamar Bridge and take the first exit, at the end of the slip road turn RIGHT following Signs for A388 (DO NOT turn left and left again - it is NOT a trailer friendly road). Follow this road for approximately 500 meters, just before the “Part Time Lights” and a drop barrier in the middle of the road turn right following the sign to “Waterside”, the slip is about 500 meters down on your left.Please Note we do not charge a toll for entering Cornwall, however those towing will need to pay a £3 fine, I mean toll, to get back into Devon. The Tamar Bridge does have a TAG system but this is not compatible with other similar systems such as the Severn Bridge one.

Just in case;

Sorry but I've just had to pull out. It really isn't possible at the moment with my foot injury.  :(

Hope you have a good time.

Postponed until August 6th

The warmer 2016 Tamar Summer Cruise will be on Saturday the 9th of July. Exploring the tidal reaches of the rivers around Plymouth and weather permitting the Sound and Drakes Island, The day out will include a stop off for the now compulsory pub lunch and just possibly a chance to set foot on Drakes Island.

Launch site will either be Weir Quay or Saltash, numbers as always will dictate the final choice.

If there is enough interest this event will be extended to incorporate a second days cruising on the Sunday.
