Never in my born days have I seen such verbiage about a relatively simple issue.  Welcome to Europe  :'(

It's a funny old world.

I have just realised that there is no legal noise limit for road vehicles and yet recreational vehicles are subject to a mass of scrutiny and discussion where ever they go.

No, I do not have a noisy motorbike but a new near neighbour has one hell of a noisy car, hence my research.

Just thought you might like to know.

I don't answer mine if I'm driving. I ring them back when I stop.
Not that people ring me. Don't know really why I have one. It's just there waiting,I look at it hoping it will ring but it never does.
It rang once but it was ppi, still gave me someone to talk to.
Oh well. Enough of this cheery banter I've got kittens to drown. Bye.

That's somewhat sobering but it does get the message home.

Wish it was just the gear - it threw the whole damn lot off the shaft, jammed the pinion on the ring gear and after the third rebuild sent the circlip into orbit - I never found the washers and wonder if they were ever fitted :-(

Trying to get the starter motor off is a nightmare - a torx40 bit needed - on a double 1/4 drive extension :-(... would have helped if I hadn't used lock n seal when I rebuilt it all.  With all the plastic splash guarding and safety mesh it took an hour just to get the starter off the first time.  Now parked up waiting spares - I had hoped to fit the later roll pin system as I have lost a couple of pinions on lawnmowers but as you say Steve, I don't think they can be swapped - the devil you know ......

I made a fatal mistake - I finished the skirt repairs today and told Gill that she was at last ready for sea trials - the damn thing heard me ..... next engine start and this happens.
