Oh dear !    Hi tech and salt water don't seem to mix ?

Two hovercraft costing £10m have been withdrawn from service until further notice after suffering numerous faults.
The Island Flyer and Solent Flyer hovercraft began running between Southsea and Ryde last summer.
They have had ongoing technical issues since their launch with Island Flyer recently suffering an engine breakdown.
Hovertravel said its Island Express craft and Freedom 90 craft which are nearly 30 years old had been brought back into service to operate the route.

The firm said both the Island Flyer and Solent Flyer were expected to remain out of action until at least October.
Managing director Neil Chapman said the firm was working with its overseas supplier on a "development programme of the propellers of both these craft."

Hi all, concerning speed records: The main criteria is a measured course, 1 km long etc, then at least two runs over this course,  one in both directions , the average speed is your max.  This is to cancel out the wind factor. Things like the Bloodhound SSC , have to turn around and complete a second run within one hour. for them a wind of say 30km/h, is nothing for they could do 1000km/h etc !   For a small hovercraft, going much much slower, a return run within minutes would return a truer average. The true ground speed is what you want, not what your aircraft type speedo says. Francois Malan

Hi Kip, trust you are well.
The charge indicator on a battery is a built in Hydrometer, but only really checks one cell.

Ello Ello, Evening All. Bend of the knees , etc.
Any  bright spark out there who can tell me how the internal charge condition light works in a car type battery.
The one you hope is green.
Just curious.

Very soon will be starting on "Go Go Escargot". A car engine based camper trike.
Donor vehicle is going to be a 2l VW Passat diesel.
Long term plan is to toddle of into the European sunshine for several months going wherever.
Hopefully in 2019.
Will keep you posted in due course,
Kip
