Do you mean the touch bars that are used to dampen belt slap? If so they are usually placed mid span on both sides. Remember that they do not actually touch the belts, sitting about 3 to 8 mm away from the back of the belts.

I'm calling them belt guides, but maybe called something else.  Its to stop the V belts twisting.
SPA belts won't twist to any degree so I've no idea what you mean by "belt guides"?

I'm making up the thrust frame for the TS3.  It's nearing completion but, Would it be better for me to have belt guides on: Slack side only?  Centre distance between the two pulleys?  A belt guide on both slack and tight side central distance?  Or am I better having the guides just before and just after top & bottom pulleys (4 belt guides)?
