How far round GB? Good question that. If you're prepared to deviate up to 50 miles from the coast as you travel point to point its around 1800 miles, if you wish to traverse the actual water/land boundary on an imaginary perfectly still day around every pebble on the beach then it's an infinite distance! To answer the question you have to say how much you are willing to smooth out the coastline. There's probably a PhD in it for someone. Great way to spend three years avoiding getting a real job!

Nope - nae chance! It's around 11,000 miles around the UK coast (most of it in Scotland (8000miles) and there are some seriously dodgy sections - Cape Wrath and between the mainland and Orkney where the North Sea and Atlantic fight it out four times every day - so-called "round Britain" coastal races cheat by using the Caledonian canal to bypass them!).

Those "around Island" trips are getting bigger, before long I can see John going around the big island that we like to call the mainland    2500 miles? nay bother

This must be one of the best areas for hovering (and boating) in the UK, particularly with weather like the last few weeks, great footage John.

Some drone footage of a two day trip out of Loch Fyne this weekend.  Saturday involved some logging in the morning followed by a trip out of the end of Loch Fyne to the Islae of Bute late afternoon then, by late evening, the Island of Inchmarnock for an overnight camp.  Sunday started with a trip around the south end of Bute, up the east coast then up Loch Riddon and back down the west coast to complete a full  circumnavigation in absolutely perfect conditions.  Around 150 miles in total - more video+pics to come!
