Greetings from Down-under! For any international hovercraft pilots & their families who may be interested:

The last meeting of the Queensland Sporting Hovercraft club proposed the use of Lake Coolmunda ( 28 degrees 25.32 mins S, 151 degrees 13 mins E.), for both our State Rally on 9th & 10th July this year, PLUS the next National Rally which will be held on 8th & 9th of July 2017. These dates coincide with the last weekend of Qld school holidays, & the middle weekend of Victorian school holidays.
I have now booked a large cordoned-off area for us to camp next to the waters edge & safely away from the general public camping area. There are also the caravan park & cabins less than 500m from the water. Early bookings are highly recommended. Contact Troy or his staff at or ring them on +61 7 4652 4171 & mention the Qld Sporting Hovercraft club rally. The lake was checked by 35 club  & family members with 11 craft on 14-16/08/15. It is 256km S.W of Brisbane via Warwick, 844km or 9hrs north of Sydney via Narrabri, 1425km or 14hrs north of Melbourne via Dubbo, 1770km or 17hrs N.E. of Adelaide via Ouyen & Dubbo, or more than 4,080km or 1.5 days via Cobar & Dubbo for the Western Australians.
Lake Coolmunda is only hours from Brisbane & the legendary Gold Coast. Our winters are very mild by comparison & rainfall relatively rare at that time of year. The area is surrounded by many tourist attractions including other "flyable" lakes, country towns, wineries, scenic drives, outback touring, & other experiences.
You are cordially invited to register your interest by e-mail to & will be included on the distribution list for all future updates.
