Thanks for rubbing it in ;-)

 I spent the morning making a fitting for the bar tow to drag the Transit to the garage - started it up - ...engine light went out and it ran perfectly.  We took it for an accompanied hard run to the motorway junction and back - faultless.  I am very, very, very hacked off tonight.

Glad you had a good time anyway Gaz !  :-)

I look forward to it Nick, as I said to Ross earlier we live in a mechanical world and must expect the odd breakdown.

I ended up doing about 53 miles. Unfortunately I saw very of Little of the Promised sunshine, although it was a warm day I really wished I had worn a coat over my occasionally damp t- shirt brrr.

Ah gee Gaz, thats such a shame especially with such good weather.
Just for the record, Kim and myself are working hard in the heat in sunny Sheffield, fitting out the two Otters, and we've been thinking how great for you to have super weather. Sorry we couldn't make it this time.
Hope the lunch time gnoshing made up for the lack of compatriots this time. ::)
Next year I hope to swish past you in stealth mode and give you a hooligan face spray!  ;)

It would appear that the Tamar cruise was not to be. Ross broke down last night and Dean's Hover refused to start before leaving Bristol this morning. Not one to be discouraged I decided to play Billy no mates and go cruise on my own. Plymouth Sound is almost flat and I have already covered over 20 miles. I am now partaking of an early lunch at The Edgcumbe Arms before heading up the Tamar to Weir head

I guess what will be will be!

What is it with cars and breakdowns? When I had 2 and one broke the other frequently stopped in sympathethy.

Theres always other days Ross, dont forget you don't have to wait be invited, the rivers always open (weather permitting) I am always up for a play - you only have to say the word.

I do NOT believe this - last time we went out - or tried to -  the Defender had a turbo intercooler hose fail - this time we were all hitched up, craft pre flight checked, additional fuel tanks installed, a new radio, charts laminated, food in the Transit, rabbits filled to the roof with food,  and all ready to roll.   I went to drive it up the garden to load the remainder of the kit ... and the hp fuel pump failed.  We are not going anywhere this weekend.  We haven't had an AA call out in over 10 years and now 2 in 2 weeks. Two aborted trips with the craft.  Is someone trying to tell me something?

Saturdays weather is looking fantastic, If your not coming down to play then your going to miss the Tamar at its best. Go on make the trip, you wont regret it! Too far to come for 1 day? just say, I am more than happy to do a second day.

...And dont forget the Sunscreen its going to be a hot one.

Launch site is the Jubilee Green Slipway, Saltash. 10.30 meet, launch asap. The slip is going to be busy get there early if you can as parking at the slip (with trailer) is limited, there's plenty of roadside parking and a carpark next door but you will need to unhook and park your trailer in a bay to use it.

Directions;
Jubilee Green Slipway is only a few meters north of the Tamar Bridge and is on the Cornish side of the river.

For SAT Nav’s use,
55 Old Ferry Road SALTASH PL12 6BJ

Wet finger navigators use;
From Exeter stay on the M5 and stay with it when it becomes the A38, signposted for Plymouth and Saltash (do not use the A30). In about 40 miles Cross the Tamar Bridge and take the first exit, at the end of the slip road turn RIGHT following Signs for A388 (DO NOT turn left and left again - it is NOT a trailer friendly road). Follow this road for approximately 500 meters, just before the “Part Time Lights” and a drop barrier in the middle of the road turn right following the sign to “Waterside”, the slip is about 500 meters down on your left.Please Note we do not charge a toll for entering Cornwall, however those towing will need to pay a £3 fine, I mean toll, to get back into Devon. The Tamar Bridge does have a TAG system but this is not compatible with other similar systems such as the Severn Bridge one.

Just in case;

All in all I am not unhappy and am sure that I made the right call

...........  it is supposed to be enjoyable, not a battle against fate and the elements in their raw form......
