as few cars will have that range.

An Audi A4 2.0 tdi I had some years ago would do 400/500 Miles per tank depending on how it was driven :D

I meant to type
What? In the coke  bottles?
Incredulously noting the slight danger of a child drinking "pink coke"!
Is there a petrol sign that is faded? It says Brandy!
Edwardee--- are you from Australia? As that is sure one amazing sign to read. I guess you all have to have fuel cans strapped into your boot, as few cars will have that range.

Nick This allows every little village to have a fuel station so they can avoid
the Australian problems

In Thailand they use whiskey bottles. Sometimes the fuel tastes better
than the original beverage !!!

1958, Cotswolds,  wind handle one way to fill, then the other way to pump into car. It took ages, but you DID have the enjoyment if watching the little fan spin as the fuel went in to your car. Days when you actually SAW petrol, rather than just smell it or here a faint gurgle. THOSE were good times eh?!!!!!!!!
About 3/6pence a GALLON, but you did only earn * per week😏 About 4p per litre!!!
We are STILL far better off NOW  but only financially i fear.

I remember my Dad pulling into a garage in the 70s where the pump was operated with a big lever.
I can remember those manually operated pumps (unfortunately!!) and the "sight glass" which had to be full "before delivery" wasn't there an impellor thing that used to spin round as the fuel was delivered?

These are still common in rural Thailand

Screw it onto a 50 gallon drum, fill the glass to the required amount
with hand pump, and gravity feed into your vehicle.
Simple

That has got to be unbelievably inefficient.
Surprised it's not towing a fuel bowser.
